Youth Engage with the PSNI
Over the last month Newry Mourne & Down Policing & Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) has been working alongside Statutory agencies such as the NIHE, PSNI, the Youth Service and the Flying Horse Forum to address the issue of anti-social behaviour in the Ballymote area. One of the issues arising was the need to rebuild the relationship between the PSNI and the young people of the area. In order to start tackling this issue the PCSP organised for the PSNI’s Tactical Support Group to attend the Ballymote Young Men’s Group in order to engage with the young people and to give them the opportunity to try out some of their equipment and to learn about their role when dealing with anti-social behaviour.
The PCSP, with all the Statutory Agencies and the Forum, will continue to work together over the next couple of months in order to address this important issue. The focus will be to engage the youth in diversionary activities and to provide a safer environment for the residents of the area.
