Under Milk Wood Comes to Down Arts Centre
The enchanted world of Dylan Thomas’ Milk Wood is being brought to life at Down Arts Centre on Saturday 28 September with an acclaimed performance by Olivier Award winner, Guy Masterson.
Following on from his uncle, Richard Burton, who recorded a legendary radio performance of the piece in 1954, Guy invites the audience to marvel at the words of the Welsh poet.
Celebrating a day in the life of Llareggub–a small sea town somewhere in Wales–all 69 ebullient inhabitants in Dylan Thomas’ timeless masterpiece are recreated. The performance is complemented by a stunning original soundscape that is by turns bawdy, beautiful, sad and sensual.
The beauty of Thomas's wordplay, the mastery of Masterson's virtuosity and the music weaving throughout the performance leaves the viewer with unforgettable images.
Under Milk Wood starts at 8pm.
