Under 16? Have a £1 Swim!
Anyone under age 16 will be able to make a healthy splash during the times of 2pm-4.30pm on week days between 15 - 26 August with Newry, Kilkeel and Down Leisure Centres offering a swim for just £1.
This fantastic offer was first introduced by the Holiday Provision project for children based in the Kilkeel area. The project, which is a partnership between Pathways, SPACE, Children in Northern Ireland, CYSP and Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, encourages young people to lead healthier lifestyles in various ways.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick said, “This health initiative was so inspiring that Newry, Mourne and Down District Council decided to promote this offer throughout the district. Being physically active can play a key role in achieving better health and wellbeing, and there is no better way to get fit than getting in the water to swim.”
Councillor Fitzpatrick continued, “The £1 swim scheme aims to make swimming more accessible to young people who are interested in trying it out for the first time or those that have not been swimming for a long time, which we hope will lead to a lot more young people getting active.”
Under this offer all children aged under age four continue to get free access to swimming and children under age 8 will require parental supervision. Offer not available on Monday 31 August 2016.
