St Paul’s High School, Bessbrook Visit Kirovsk, Russia
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Mickey Ruane and the Chair of the Strategy, Planning and Resources Committee, Councillor Robert Burgess are leading a delegation from St Paul’s School, Bessbrook, to travel to Kirovsk, Russia as part of the Newry and Kirovsk Twinning Project.
The delegation has received a kind invitation from the Mayor of Kirovsk to participate in a wide range of educational activities from the 18 to the 24 March. The Kirovsk administration has kindly agreed to pay for the delegations accommodation, food and all educational programme activities.
The Newry and Kirovsk Twinning Programme has been on-going for nearly 13 years and a large number of projects have occurred during this time.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson Councillor Mickey Ruane said, “This trip will give us the opportunity to discuss a number of future activities between both Cities including a possible joint application to the European Commission for a mountain bike project, possible cultural exchange project and future educational development.”
As part of the programme there will also be a discussion on the future development of St Paul’s High School, Bessbrook and School No 7 Kirovsk ‘Challenge of Change’ Programme.
