Special Visitors Enjoy the Ring of Gullion Heritage Coach Tour
The Monks from Peme Ts’al Sakya Monastery, Nepal are the latest visitors to enjoy the Ring of Gullion Heritage Coach Tour.
The visiting Monks came to Lislea for a week of healing rituals and Buddhist teaching with all donations going to the Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund. Having spent time in Nepal, Pat McParland, co-ordinator of the event, saw the devastating impact the earthquake had and he also experienced the fantastic work of the Monks from Peme Ts’al Sakya Monastery.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick said, “It was a privilege to wave the Monks off on their trip around the Ring of Gullion, accompanied by the outstanding tour guide Una Walsh. The outstanding feedback received for the tours always highlight Una’s passion and knowledge of the heritage and culture of the South Armagh area. The craic is always great as well!”
The beauty and heritage of the South Armagh countryside has wowed visitors from near and far, thanks to the many tours provided by the Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Councillor Fitzpatrick continued, “We have had a number of visitors adding to the tours with their own stories of returning after years away to re-trace family and their life in the area. The visitors always get a great South Armagh welcome from everyone they meet, from the bus drivers at Slanes Coaches to the many establishments in Crossmaglen available for a bite to eat on the day.”
