Slieve Gullion District Electoral Area Hosts Education and Employment Fair
Slieve Gullion District Electoral Area (DEA) delivered its second public event of 2017 with an Education and Employment Event for Young People.
The event took place on Tuesday 20 June in Newtownhamilton Community Centre and brought young people from all over the Slieve Gullion DEA to connect with employment and education services.
Supporting the event were representatives from Volunteer Now, Work4You Plus, Clanrye Group, Southern Regional College, Careers NI, Jobs and Benefits, Youth Action, and Education Authority, who all gave information and advice to attendees.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Roisin Mulgrew said, “I am pleased to see so many young people taking the initiative to improve their own future, as well as the service providers who attended the event to support them and connect them with the many options available”.
Slieve Gullion DEA Forum Chairperson, Councillor Pete Byrne said, “The needs of young people in the community features prominently in the Slieve Gullion DEA Action Plan, and this event which aims to connect young people to employment and education options is proof of our commitment to addressing those needs and issues.”
