Recycler of the month Re LAUNCH
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is pleased to announce a new year of “recycler of the month” kindly sponsored by Castlereagh Motors. The aim of the competition is to encourage people to recycle more by rewarding them for their efforts.
It’s easy, residents who present their blue recycling bin on collection day will have a chance to win £50! Blue bins used to their full potential will contain all types of paper and magazines, cardboard, aluminium and steel cans, clean foil containers, waxed cardboard cartons, empty aerosols and plastic bottles. Material should be presented clean, dry and loose. Bins containing items that cannot be recycled, through the blue bin scheme, will unfortunately not be considered.
Chair Naomi Ballie said, “It is very important to use your blue recycling bin to help reduce the amount going to landfill. Recycling your waste is better for the environment and helps keep costs down. I encourage everyone in the Newry, Mourne and Down area to take the blue bin challenge and see if they can recycle more and possibly become the next ‘Recycler of the Month’. I am very pleased that Castlereagh Motors value our aim and would like to thank them for their generous sponsorship.”
Austin Hanna commented, “It is a pleasure to support Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, in this worthwhile competition. I hope residents will present their bin with all the correct materials in order to have a chance to win!”
