Perfect Pitch will Receive Funding for Youth Project
As part of the Youth Leading Change campaign, groups, individuals, community and voluntary organisations are invited to pitch for £500 funding towards a project that would benefit young people in their area.
The funding is being made available through ‘Communities Leading Change’ Participatory Budgeting Pilots, which have been developed to support innovative youth ideas put forward by the local community and which the local community will have had an opportunity to vote on.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairman, Councillor Mark Murnin said, “The Youth Leading Change campaign is an innovative and exciting initiative which aims to engage young people in government and empower them to make a difference within their own communities.
“As part of this, the Participatory Budgeting Pilots offer local groups and individuals interested in youth matters, a great opportunity to access funding for innovative youth projects they believe will make a real difference at the heart of their community. It also empowers residents within the district to make important decisions in terms of which projects should receive the money, and will show them what kind of impact they can have on our district.”
To apply for the funding, interested parties are asked to submit their project in an Expression of Interest form. They will then be asked to pitch their project in a digital format that can be shared online; allowing residents to vote for the projects they think will benefit the area most. A second vote will take place at an event in November 2018 the results of which will be added to the online vote, deciding who will be awarded funding.
Please send us your project ideas in an Expression of Interest form which can be found at Council reception areas and downloaded from newrymournedown.org.
