4 March 2015 Councillor Naomi Bailie (Sinn Fein) is the Chairperson for the new Newry, Mourne and Down District Council after being elected into the role at the inaugural Annual General Meeting which took place on Tuesday 31March 2015 in the Downpatrick Offices at the Downshire Civic Centre.

4 January 2015 Today represents a landmark day for every single person living in our District when Newry & Mourne District Council and Down District Council merge to form the new Council known as Newry, Mourne & Down District Council.
