One Small Step for Man, One Giant Leap for Men’s Health
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council will be putting men’s health to the fore as part of their contribution to International Men’s Health Week, which runs from Monday, 11 June until Sunday, 17 June 2018.
During the week, people are being asked to do something ‘out of this world’ for their health. As part of the Health Week, everyone will be encouraged to make one practical change, no matter how small, to improve their health and the health of men across the island of Ireland.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Mark Murnin said, “I am pleased to be able to support this initiative. All men in the district should ask themselves ‘what’s my small step going to be?’ If the answer is ‘I don’t know’ then it might be time to think about doing something that will make a positive difference to your health and the health of your family.
The Council will be marking the week by distributing ‘Man Manuals’ to barber shops throughout the district. The manuals contain useful information on all aspects of improving health and will provide ideas for taking that all important first small step.
Councillor Murnin concluded, “I would encourage everyone to make a small step; whether it is going for a walk or a swim or talking to your friends about how you are feeling. Every small step can make a big difference.”
