Newry Variety Market Comes Alive with Local Tourism Providers and Family Fun
The 'Hidden Gems at Home' tourism showcase event on Sunday 23 March transformed Newry Variety Market into a vibrant hub of local culture and adventure. Over 60 stalls filled the market, each highlighting the diverse tourism experiences available within the Mourne Gullion Strangford Geopark.
Attendees explored a rich tapestry of offerings, including outdoor activity and adventures, cultural and heritage experiences, food and drink, golf and accommodation. The event aimed to inspire residents to discover and appreciate the unique attractions in their own district.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Pete Byrne, attended the event and expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative. Attendees also enjoyed taster experiences, allowing them to sample various activities offered by local tourism businesses. A selection of food and drink stalls provided the finest local delicacies, ensuring a delightful experience for all ages. Children and adults alike delighted in interactive experiences such as sand art, arts and crafts workshops, treasure hunts, live music, Irish dancing and engaging demonstrations by local tourism providers.
