Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Welcomes Maidens to Bagenals Castle

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Roisin Mulgrew welcomed the Maidens from the 2017 Maiden of the Mournes Festival to Bagenals Castle for a tour of Newry Museum on Tuesday 8 August 2017.

Councillor Mulgrew said, “A strategic objective of the Council is to promote the Newry, Mourne and Down district as one of the premier tourism destinations on the island of Ireland and the work of groups, such as the Maiden of the Mournes Festival Committee, is vital in helping the Council achieve this objective.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the organising Committee who work tirelessly to create an imaginative and innovative programme of events which appeals to both the local community and visitors to the area.”

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council was delighted to be a sponsor of the event which showcased one of the most scenic parts of the district.
