Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Launch Enterprise Week 2024

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, in partnership with Newry and Mourne Co-operative and Enterprise Agency and Down Business Centre are excited to announce the launch of NMD Enterprise Week 2024, a week-long initiative designed to celebrate entrepreneurship and business development in our local community. This year’s global theme of ‘Entrepreneurship is for Everyone’, will focus on promoting inclusivity and accessibility in the entrepreneurial landscape with the hope of encouraging creativity, diversity, innovation and economic growth.

NMD Enterprise Week will take place from Monday 18 November to Friday 22 November 2024 and will feature a series of workshops, seminars and networking events to empower entrepreneurs and business owners throughout the district. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from industry leaders, connect with fellow entrepreneurs and gain valuable insights into starting or growing their businesses. Aimed at Social Enterprises and businesses, the initiative will also showcase local success stories and give businesses easy access to highly experienced advisors and support programmes.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Economy, Regeneration and Tourism Committee Chairperson, Councillor Alan Lewis, who attended on behalf of Chairperson Councillor Pete Byrne said, “Newry, Mourne and Down District Council recognises that entrepreneurship is a powerful catalyst for economic growth and social change. NMD Enterprise Week is a real opportunity for our entrepreneurs to actively engage and participate in a range of initiatives aimed at helping to start up, develop and grow their businesses. Enterprise Week has become a real highlight in the local business calendar and provides a great opportunity for networking and information sharing that can lead to sustainable business success.”

Cllr Lewis continued, “We are lucky to have a strong network of partners who offer a wealth of support across a range of industries and NMD Enterprise Week offers a fantastic platform for local businesses to connect directly with these partners and know that support is there.”

Over the coming days further information will be released on events; the week will aim to support social enterprises and businesses in the areas of innovation and technology, financial well-being, sustainability, business start-ups and key tips on methods to sustain and grow.
