New ‘Well Check’ Opportunities Welcomed by Council
Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke is offering ‘Well Checks’ in three locations across the district, supported by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.
The three centres hosting the health and lifestyle themed appointments are: Bridge Community Centre, Killyleagh, on 15 April 2019; Crossmaglen Community Centre, on 17 April 2019, and Drumalane Community Centre on 30 April 2019.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairman, Councillor Mark Murnin, said, “I am delighted that Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke decided to offer the residents of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Well Checks. I would encourage anyone who lives in the areas of Newry, Crossmaglen or Killyleagh to make use of this opportunity and to book an appointment.”
The Well Check is a face-to-face, 30-minute appointment with a health promotion specialist. The checks include blood pressure, pulse, cholesterol, body mass index (BMI) and a body composition test. Lifestyle is also discussed at the appointment along with follow up support and advice if required. To avail of the well health checks, you must be over the age of 18. There is also an option on the day of the Well Check appointment to donate to Northern Ireland Chest, Heart and Stroke.
