New Season of Children’s Creative Classes at Down Arts Centre
It’s time to get the kids creative this season. Down Arts Centre has a host of workshops and classes for young people which will unlock their imagination and bring out their true potential.
Minecraft world starts on Wednesday 10 January from 4pm-6pm. Miners will take the ‘building blocks’ of their imagination and work together to create their own mods, stories and adventures over the eight week course.
For all those young musicians, Ossia Music Rock School offers both beginners and more advanced players the opportunity to learn and improve skills on guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals. Rock School is run by professional musicians and teachers, in a friendly and creative curriculum based environment. Starting on Thursday 11 January from 4pm-6pm, the School will run for a period of eight weeks.
Starting on Tuesday 16 January author/artist/illustrator, Kieron Black will guide budding artists in the techniques of pencil, pen and ink, watercolour and acrylic, even felt-tips or crayons. He will demonstrate how to bring ideas from imagination to life on the page. Join him from
4pm-6pm every Tuesday for eight weeks for this fun class aimed directly at the younger artist and get that creativity unleashed.
Young Sewing Bees aims to teach young people the valuable life skill of sewing in structured lessons. Learn how to use a sewing machine safely as well as cut and sew fabric. Each week offers a new project providing progressive challenges including a zipped purse, soft toy and a wall hanging. The class starts on Thursday 1 February from 6.15pm-8.45pm and runs for five weeks.
If your little ones loves working with their hands, enrol them with Aine McKenna who will be running kids' pottery classes from Saturday 1 February for eight weeks. She will explore texture and impressing in clay and make relief tiles and coil or pinch pots. These classes are aimed at children aged 4-6 years and 7-11 years old. Why not give it a try?
