New Production of ‘Jane Eyre’ Comes to Down Arts Centre
A new adaptation of Charlotte Bronte’s compelling tale, Jane Eyre, is coming to the Down Arts Centre on Friday 5 October. Widely believed to be one of the most important works of fiction, the play is staged by the Hotbuckle Theatre Company, which makes its welcome return to the Arts Centre.
The timeless story is of the young orphaned Jane, who overcomes cruelty at the hands of her aunt and the school to which she is banished. She eventually finds freedom as a governess to the young daughter of the enigmatic Mr Rochester, who she later comes to love. But the path of love is never straight and Jane must choose between passion and reason, overshadowed by terrible and dark secrets.
Hotbuckle Theatre Company brings their unique touch to this powerful and emotional story and follows their success with adaptations of Wuthering Heights and Far From the Madding Crowd, which has received plaudits from theatre and arts critics alike.
Tickets for the show are priced at £12 and £10 for concessions and can be booked at Down Arts Centre Box Office on 028 4461 0747.
