Neighbourhood Renewal Awards
On Tuesday the 8th December the Newry Neighbourhood Renewal (NR) Partnership Board held a presentation event in the WIN Business Centre, to celebrate the achievements of local people who have attained qualifications in both IFA Soccer Coaching and Canoeing.
An IFA Level 1 Soccer Coaching Award was achieved by 17 people, Paddlesport Level 1 & 2 Awards were achieved by 12 people and a Coach Assessment Award was given to 1 participant.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson Cllr Naomi Bailie opened the event and congratulated all the participants on their achievements, and offered her thanks to the Department for Social Development for their financial and administrative support and to the Newry Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership board for their hard work in helping to deliver the Neighbourhood renewal strategy.
Mr Jerome Burns Deputy Director Department for Social Development (DSD) also congratulated all the participants and paid tribute to the Newry Partnership board for their dedication in helping to deliver the Neighbourhood Renewal investment programme. He also thanked Newry Mourne and Down District Council and the Southern Health and Social Care Trust for delivering both the Outdoor Activity and Health programmes.
The Chairperson of the Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership Mr Gerry Coyle offered his congratulations to all the recipients and thanked both the chairperson of Newry, Mourne & Down District Council, Cllr Naomi Bailie and Mr Jerome Burns from DSD for their words of encouragement. He also commended the members of the partnership board for their vision in taking forward the NR initiative and DSD for their continued funding to help address the inequalities and tackle deprivation within the Newry NR areas.
