Murder on the Menu at Canal Court Hotel and Spa, Newry
On Friday 7 July, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council in conjunction with the Canal Court Hotel and Spa will present “Murder They Baked”, a new murder mystery dining experience.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Roisin Mulgrew said, “Murder They Baked will be a fun, engaging and delicious way to spend a Friday evening in the Canal Court Hotel and Spa. This is an excellent way for people to taste the amazing food and drink produce that the Newry, Mourne and Down area has to offer. The evening will contain some surprises to help solve the mystery and there will be a prize on offer for the wining team.”
Councillor Mulgrew continued, “The evening has been created to encourage local people to engage with local produce in a creative and interactive way and the Mixologist and Head Chef from Canal Court and Spa have been working with local producers to create a tantalising menu that will be as exciting as the drama that will unfold throughout the evening.
“On arrival, guests will enjoy a Shortcross Gin and Kilmegan Cider drinks reception followed by a delicious four course meal prepared especially for the occasion. Murder Mystery theatre group, Footsteps NI, has produced a bespoke mystery to solve during the night, performed by a professional cast, which will put guests firmly back into Newry’s past in a lively “who-dun-it”.
The scene is set in 1937 and a great celebration is taking place; a dinner to celebrate Victoria Bakery’s centenary anniversary. The owner, Mr Matt McCann is delighted to host the gathering but all is not well. His desire to see the bakery modernised is putting many noses out of joint and there are those who will do anything to stop him from pursuing a progressive path for the bakery.
With murder on the menu, detective skills and an appetite will be necessary to solve this mystery. Can you identify the guilty parties? Tickets cost £30.00 per person and are available from the Canal Court Hotel and Spa or by calling 028 3025 1234.
