Medals Galore for Sportability Paralympic Swimming Squad

The Sportability Paralympic Swimming Squad took part in the Disability Sport NI Annual Swimming Championships at Lagan Valley Leisureplex, Lisburn on Saturday 16 June 2018. 

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairman, Councillor Mark Murnin said, “The team was on top form at the gala with every one of the 9 strong team, coming home with at least one medal.  I am delighted that the Council is associated with the promotion and development of Paralympic Sports.  I’m looking forward to watching out for the young athletes here today representing their Country in future Paralympic games.”

Sportability Paralympic Swimming Squad Coach, Mr Micki Connor said, “I am absolutely delighted with everyone’s performance.  The hard work you’ve put in all year has clearly been worth it.  Congratulations to all the team.”

Best for Sportability was Bartosz Goscianski, who beat his personal best for 100m free style winning gold, coming home with two silver and a bronze as well.

Sarah Rafferty was on top form as always, as she came home with one gold, two silver and a bronze also.

Don Farrell, new to the Championships, won two gold medals and one bronze.

Daniel Kearney, Brannon and Cara Shields, all new comers to the championships kept their cool and came away with a good medal haul.
