Luxury Experience Awaits: Mourne Gullion Strangford Geopark Hosts Western USA Operators on Exclusive Familiarisation Trip
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Valerie Harte was delighted to recently welcome luxury agents from Western USA who were visiting the district as part of a familiarisation trip organised by Tourism Ireland and Tourism Northern Ireland.
The trip was part of ongoing efforts to showcase the diverse offerings of Ireland to travel professionals around the world by providing firsthand experiences of the country's finest accommodations, attractions, and experiences.
The group’s first stop within Northern Ireland’s newly designated Mourne Gullion Strangford UNESCO Global Geopark was the Killeavy Castle Estate, nestled amidst the rolling hills of County Armagh. The group immersed themselves in luxury at this stunning retreat, set against a backdrop of lush gardens.
The journey continued into the Geopark’s mystical landscapes. While exploring its ancient geological wonders, picturesque villages, and rugged mountains that have inspired myths and legends for centuries, they also had an opportunity to take part in a unique whiskey experience at Two Stacks Irish Whiskey in Newry and participate in a fully interactive, one-of-a-kind Irish dancing phenomenon led by Dancing at the Crossroads at Denvir’s Coaching Inn, Downpatrick. The group stayed in the luxurious Slieve Donard Hotel.
Commenting on the familiarisation trip, Council Chairperson, Councillor Valerie Harte said, "I am thrilled to welcome our esteemed guests from Western USA on this extraordinary journey through our stunning destination. From the grandeur of Killeavy Castle Estate to the natural wonders of the Mourne Gullion Strangford Geopark, to the elegant Slieve Donard Hotel this trip embodies the essence of luxury and discovery. We are confident that the operators are enchanted by the beauty of our landscapes and the warmth of our hospitality."
