The much-anticipated Lúnasa Festival is set to return this year, bringing a vibrant celebration of music and culture across South Armagh and the Ring of Gullion in the Mourne Gullion Strangford UNESCO Global Geopark.
Running from Saturday 3 to Sunday 25 August 2024, the Lúnasa Festival will offer an eclectic mix of music from local talents Greener Shade of Blue and An Bonnán Buí featuring genres ranging from traditional folk to contemporary sounds. The festival is perfect for families, offering a host of activities from craft workshops to storytelling sessions alongside nature walks and tours.
Events will take place in various locations including Crossmaglen, Camlough, Forkhill, Mullaghbawn and Meigh.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson Councillor Pete Byrne said, “The Lúnasa Festival 2024 celebrates its 9th Year within Ring of Gullion at the heart of the UNESCO Global Geopark thanks to funding from the Landscape Partnership. This year’s festival celebrates our stunning landscapes, our rich music and song traditions and our heritage craft practices.”
Landscape Partnership Chair, Colleen Savage said, “We are delighted with the line-up of events within this year’s festival as it certainly captures the essence of our people and our heritage providers and what is important to them. There is such a diverse mix of experiences for people to choose from guided walks and foraging to heritage crafts, music, song and dance.”
