Kilkeel Hosts Information Fair to Mark Positive Ageing Month
The Mournes District Electoral Area (DEA), in partnership with Age Friendly and the Southern Health and Social Care Trust (SHSCT), has marked this year’s Positive Ageing month with an information fair for older people.
The free event was held on Tuesday, 30 October at 11.00am in Kilkeel and featured a range of information on health support services, as well as arts and crafts, and entertainment for all those who attended.
Positive Ageing Month focuses on the contributions older people make to society as well as increasing awareness of issues affecting them, particularly health and wellbeing, keeping active, safety, and isolation.
Over 70 people from around the Mournes area attended the event, which was supported by the Kilkeel Community Association. A number of other organisations attended to agencies to provide support information including Home Safety, the Policing and Community Safety Partnership, representatives from the Southern Health and Social Care Trust, Housing Executive, Marie Curie, Good Morning Good Neighbour, Home Secure, Action on Elder Abuse, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Leisure and the PSNI.
This event is part of a number of Partnership events between DEAs, SHSCT, and Age Friendly taking place throughout the District Council area.
