Kilbroney Vintage Show Celebrates its 30th Anniversary

The most iconic car in Irish History, Michael Collin’s 'Sliabh na mBan'  will be coming north of the border for the first time to make a special appearance at the Kilbroney Vintage Show, which this year celebrates its 30^th Anniversary, on Saturday 20 June.   

Chairperson of Newry Mourne and Down District Council, Councillor Naomi Bailie, outlined a fantastic programme of events at the launch of the Kilbroney Vintage Show which has been running since 1985,and is now recognised as the premier event of its kind in Ireland.

Already there has been a huge response from both North and South of the Border and the U.K. and the organisers are expecting a bumper number of entries this year.   Over 1,500 old vehicle enthusiasts will descend on Kilbroney Park with their vehicles polished to pristine condition and the thousands of visitors to the Show can look forward to a fun packed day.   Trade Stands and Autojumblers will provide bargains galore.  There will be demonstrations of working farm machinery and as usual there will be the funfair and novelty shows for children, including Clowns, Magic Shows and Face Painters.

Headlining the entertainment will be Ritchie Kavanagh, along with Tom O’Rourke and Big O will be on stage to keep the craic going all day.

To celebrate the 30^th Anniversary each entrant will be presented with a specially commissioned

Plaque which will no doubt become a collector’s item in the future.

Speaking at the Launch the Chairperson Naomi Bailie said:

“The Kilbroney Vintage Show is one of the biggest outdoor events in the Newry Mourne and Down District Council, attracting thousands of visitors to our area.    I would like to pay tribute to Newry Lions Club and the Vintage Show Committee for the tremendous work they have done in sustaining and expanding this event over the last 30 years and extend an invitation to everyone to come along and enjoy a fun filled family day out in the beautiful setting of Kilbroney Park”.
