It’s A Knockout Success for Kilkeel
Kilkeel welcomed the ‘It’s a Knockout’ competition which made its inaugural appearance at the town’s esplanade on Saturday 7 September.
The event was organised by the PSNI Newry and Mourne; Newry, Mourne and Down PCSP, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council along with the Mournes District Electoral Area (DEA) Forum, Kilkeel Development Association, Kilkeel Chamber of Commerce, and the Education Authority.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Charlie Casey, welcomed the participants, organisers and public to the event. He said, “This inaugural event created a great opportunity for young people to come together and enjoy a day of friendly competition.
“Not only is the physical activity fun for all involved, it helps to improve everyone’s physical and mental wellbeing and encourages good relations for the whole community. Improving the health and embracing good relations within the community is one of the key priorities for the Council, and it also features prominently in the Mournes DEA action plans.
I also want to particularly thank the sponsors for making this day a reality and the participants for taking part in the many good-natured contests.”
During the event, ten local teams battled it out taking on a giant inflatable assault course with their fellow team mates, while sliding about in lots of bubbles. Dunnaman Football Club - Team 2 were crowned 2019 Champions, with runners up representing Mourne Church group.
