IPB Pride of Place Judges Visit The Clanrye Group
Judges Tom Dowling and Declan Nelson from the prestigious IBP Pride of Place All Ireland competition visited the Clanrye Group facilities in both Drumalane Mill and Slieve Gullion Courtyard on Friday 2 September.
Newry Mourne and Down District Council have nominated the Clanrye Group as the chosen organisation within the district to the IPB Pride of Place All Ireland Awards 2022. The annual competition organised by peacebuilding charity, Co-operation Ireland, aims to recognise and celebrate the positive social impacts being made in communities across Ireland and the people coming together to shape, change and improve daily lives in their communities.
Council have nominated the Clanrye Group under the Cities category for best Community Health and Wellbeing Initiative in recognition of the projects they have delivered to shape, change and improve the lives of residents in the Newry area for almost 40 years across education, training and community wellbeing.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Chairperson, Councillor Michael Savage said, “The Clanrye Group is a community organisation that provides an extensive range of help and support to individuals of all ages and their families within the community who would like to make positive life changes. Keeping people and the community at the heart of everything they do through the range of services they provide. From connecting residents with local employers through their employability programmes, empowering individuals to secure training and qualifications through their range of training programmes or helping the community to improve their quality of life through the provision of physical, mental health and wellbeing services.
The judges’ visit provided the Clanrye Group with the opportunity to showcase their work and explain why they should win a prestigious IPB Pride of Place Award. The judges also had the opportunity to meet with partners and key stakeholders as well as participants who have directly benefitted from their programmes. They witnessed first-hand the working partnership that exists with the Clanrye Group and all sectors across the community.
We would like to wish the Clanrye Group every success at the awards ceremony which will be hosted on Saturday 21 January 2023.
