International Women’s Day Charity Programme Unveiled
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council’s Chairperson Councillor Roisin Mulgrew launched an exciting new programme on Friday 2 February 2018 to invite everyone to celebrate International Women’s Day on 8 March 2018.
The lunchtime event is sponsored by First Derivatives and Regen and will be held in the Canal Court Hotel, Newry on Thursday 8 March at 12noon to include a Bucks Fizz reception followed by lunch. The event will benefit the Chairperson’s three chosen charities, Davina’s Ark, Mental Health Forum and Women’s Aid.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council’s Chairperson, Councillor Roisin Mulgrew said, “I am proud to be able to unveil our programme to celebrate International Women’s Day; a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women across the globe. A lunchtime programme has been organised so that women can take a few hours out of their usual schedule to mark International Women’s Day by relaxing, enjoying good food, good company and raising money for charity at the same time. My guest speaker will be comic actress and writer Nuala McKeever, who is sure to generate laughter and entertainment at the event.”
Cllr Mulgrew continued, “I am particularly pleased that two of our local companies, First Derivatives and Regen have so generously provided financial sponsorship for this event which will help me raise vital funds for my three chosen charities. I am confident that many organisations will want to take a table, both to help raise money for the charities and also to mark the contribution made by women throughout the year.”
