Hugh Savage Solo Exhibition in Sean Hollywood Arts Centre
A solo exhibition of the work of talented artist Hugh Savage will adorn the walls in the John Bell Gallery of The Sean Hollywood Arts Centre during the month of August 2017.
The works in oils and in a range of sizes, take us on a journey of Hugh’s interpretation of the world through landscapes, cityscapes, and portraits. The works are so detailed, you have to look really closely to see quirky objects and characters, in a vivid colour palette.
Residing in Kilkeel, Hugh states, “I have been an avid artist for the past 12 years. I have lived in Kilkeel now for the past four years, but was brought up on a farm near Newtownhamilton, County Armagh. I am a self-taught artist, and have grown such in confidence that I am now launching my third exhibition. Previous exhibitions have taken place in The Safe House Art Gallery June 2009 and in 2014 I hosted a solo exhibition in Kilkeel Library. I like to paint reality through my eyes, and this exhibition is my perception of the world. I would regard myself as being a happy go lucky character, and my motto is “live for the day”.
Encouraging local people, families, friends and visitors, the Chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, Roisin Mulgrew commented, “this exhibition demonstrates that the visual arts are a relevant part of our Arts programme, and I urge you to view this exhibition by a talented local artist”.
