Grainne Duffy is the Real Deal
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is delighted to welcome Grainne Duffy to Down Arts Centre for one night only on Saturday 27 October.
Playing a mean electric blues guitar and with a voice that is as passionate as it is raw and honest, Grainne Duffy has been compared to BB King and Bonnie Raitt. Having toured worldwide and played at many leading festivals including Glastonbury, Blues Balls, Blues du Passion and Tremblant International Festival, concert goers to Down Arts Centre won’t be disappointed by this exceptional performer.
Described by The Sunday Times as ‘a blues singer of real integrity’, Grainne is a pioneer of her own style while also playing sincere homage to her roots, soul, blues, country and rock traditions. She is a seasoned artist and has been spending the last number of years touring in Europe, Scandinavia, Asia and Canada.
Grainne’s understanding of the blues brings a lot of soul to her music. While her voice and playing are inspired by the wellsprings of Memphis and Chicago, Grainne also reflects rich varieties of the Celtic experience as was revealed in her remarkable first album ‘Out of the Dark’.
An exceptional voice accompanied by simple, melodic and well phrased guitar lines, Grainne Duffy is the real deal. It is not often a rare, honest talent like this comes along but when it does, it is instantly recognisable and must be appreciated.
Door open from 7pm with 8pm start and tickets are priced at just £12 per person and £10 for concessions, booked though Down Arts Centre Box Office: 028 4461 0747.
