Go Nuts For Birds at Kilbroney
On the weekend of 30 and 31 January 2016 over half a million people from across the UK are set to take part in the world’s largest wildlife survey, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) Big Gardern Birdwatch.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Counicllor Mickey Ruane said, “The Big Garden Birdwatch is a very simple survey to get involved in. All you need to do is spend one hour at any time over the last weekend in January noting the highest number of species of bird seen in your garden or local park.”
Chairperson Ruane added, “Newry, Mourne and Down District Council will be contributing through the counting of birds in Kilbroney Park. We have put up some extra bird feeders to encourage our feathered friends to visit. It is important to remember that due to the recent cold weather it is very important to put extra food out for the birds as they have trouble finding their natural food”.
Come along and join in to count wildlife that’s counting on you. We will be at at The Cloughmore Centre, Kilbroney Park on Saturday 30 January from 10am to 12pm. The event will involve fun activities for all the family.
If you can not make it along to the event, why not take part in the survey at home. Log onto http://www.rspb.org.uk/birdwatch to register and download your counting sheet.
