Newry, Mourne and Down District Council through the Ring of Gullion Partnership have teamed up with the Gap o’ the North Walking Club to offer a free ‘Get into Hillwalking’ workshop event. The event will take place on Saturday 14 March from 11.30am to 2pm.
The workshop will take place at Slieve Gullion Forest Park and will seek to show novice hill walkers the core skills needs to safely explore the beautiful landscape of the Ring of Gullion and beyond. The workshop will be relaxed and informal with walking pitched at a level that is a at a comfortable pace for everyone.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Charlie Casey said, “We are very lucky to be working with the Gap o’ the North Hillwalking Club Leaders for this workshop as their membership includes a number of enthusiasts of history, flora and fauna who will share their knowledge over the course of the day.”
“We aim to provide members of the public with new skills and confidence in the mountains that can also be used in the countryside. This event aims to show the benefits of getting outdoors and mixing with a group of similarly interested people.”
