Gating Orders
Under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act (Northern Ireland) 2011, the Council can make Gating Orders. Before doing so, the Council must be satisfied that certain criteria are met.

Notice of Traffic Regulation Order Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act (Northern Ireland) 2011 Notice is hereby given that Newry, Mourne and Down District Council in the exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 69A to 69E of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993 as inserted by the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act (Northern Ireland) 2011 proposes to make an Order entitled the Downpatrick Traffic Regulation Order 2019.
The purpose of the Order is to prohibit the use by vehicles and pedestrians of the following Roads in Downpatrick:
• to the side of Numbers 4 and 6 Islandbane Walk, Downpatrick
• to the side of Numbers 10 and 12 Islandbane Walk, Downpatrick
• to the rear of Numbers 11-13 Ballymote Park, Downpatrick
• to the side of Numbers 13 and 14 Ballymote Park, Downpatrick
• to the front of Numbers 7 and 8 Ballymote Park, Downpatrick
• to the side of Number 9 Ballymote Park, Downpatrickr
It is proposed to give effect to this by erecting 8 gates at entrances to the back, front and side of the roads specified above. Click here to see siteplan.
Full details are contained in the Draft Order, which, together with the map showing the roads affected may be inspected electronically at www.newrymournedown.org or during office hours for a period of 30 days from the date of publication of this Notice at Downshire Civic Centre, Downshire Estate, Ardglass Road, Downpatrick, BT30 6GQ.
Objections or other representations in respect of the proposed Order must be made in writing to the Health and Wellbeing Department, Newry Mourne and Down District Council, Downshire Civic Centre, Downshire Estate, Ardglass Road, Downpatrick, BT30 6GQ or emailed to ehealth@nmandd.org within a period of 30 days from the date of publication of this Notice.
