Food For Thought as Newry BID Launches First Food Tour
Newry has a vibrant cultural heritage and diverse culinary landscape. As part of Newry BID’s (Business Improvement District) food in the city initiative, supported by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, we are delighted to announce the launch of an innovative new walking food tour called ‘Newry Food Tour’.
This exciting food experience has been carefully designed to take locals and visitors alike on a delightful gastronomic journey through the heart of Newry City, located within the Mourne, Gullion, Strangford UNESCO Global Geopark. Participants will have the opportunity to sample a curated selection of local dishes, flavours, and beverages that will showcase the rich diversity and unique fusion which defines Newry’s culinary landscape.
The tour will be led by knowledgeable and passionate local guide Declan McConaghy, who will regale participants with captivating stories and insights on Newry's culinary heritage, its charming history and the traditions that have shaped its unique food culture.

This experience promotes the vibrant food, retail and hospitality sector in Newry and promises something different for anyone that enjoys tasting local produce. The guided walking tour lasts approximately 3 hours. During that time you will be lead through a delectable journey and be given an insider’s perspective on local dishes, local restaurants, cafes and bakeries. It’s a great opportunity to find out more about the gastronomic delights while exploring different businesses across the city.”
