First Meeting of the Newly Formed Castlewellen Forest Park Task and Finish Project Board.
On Friday 11 March, Councillors from Newry, Mourne and Down District Council have attended the first meeting of the newly formed Castlewellan Forest Park Task and Finish Project Board.
Following a meeting of the Enterprise Regeneration and Tourism Committee in December, seven councillors have been nominated to the membership of this new board. The elected Councillors are Mark Murnin, Laura Devlin, William Clarke, Stephen Burns, Garth Craig, Davis Taylor and Patrick Clarke.
The Board is seeking to develop a governing vision for the Forest Park, identify projects that will benefit the park, its users, visitors and the wider community whilst prioritising these projects in order to source appropriate funding to enable Council to deliver the projects on the ground.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Mickey Ruane has taken this opportunity to thank all individuals and groups who have been involved in various projects involving the Forest Park to date saying, “Castlewellan Forest Park is of huge heritage significance and many people have given up their precious free time to champion the park and assist in its future development. On behalf of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council I would like to thank all of those people. I wish the new Task and Finish Project Board good luck in developing plans for the Forest Park.”
