Firmus Energy Newry City Triathlon is Fast-approaching
Come and Support Athletes Having a ‘TRI’
Athletes across Northern Ireland are in the final preparation stages for this year’s exciting Firmus Energy Newry Triathlon, which will take place on Sunday 30 August. The challenging event, which will see hundreds of competitors swim, cycle and race their way to the finish line, is part of Newry City Council’s spectacular showcase, the Festival of Water.
Firmus Energy is encouraging as many people as possible to come out and support the participants. Angeline Murphy of Firmus Energy, commented, “Last year’s event was a great success and I know this year’s competitors will be spurred on by crowds of people cheering for them! The Triathlon is a real test of endurance but after the 750-metre swim in Newry Canal, 20km of cycling on the even, level course and a five km run taking in the key landmarks around the City, participants are sure to be bursting with pride as the sense of achievement upon completing the course is just amazing!”
“This Triathlon offers participants and those taking part the very best experience as the flat landscape will make for dramatic speeds and the audience will have excellent vantage points throughout the City to support their friends and family taking part.”
“It promises to be a great family day out with lots to see and do. Firmus will have a gazebo at the event with lots of fun giveaways and a prize draw to win £100 of Quays shopping vouchers.”
Chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, Councillor Bailie commented, “The Firmus Energy Newry Triathlon is one of the highlights of the 2015 Newry City Festival of Water. Festival events will be taking place throughout the day including face painting, bouncy castles, a climbing wall, banana rides on the Canal, jet-ski and canoe races. There really is something for everyone in this Festival which showcases the very best of our City.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is delighted to support this unique festival which includes a unique mix of cultural and family events.
With hundreds of participants and spectators, Newry will be filled with colour, fun, laughter and excitement on Saturday 30th August! There really is something for everyone, so make sure to come along and join in the fun.”
Angeline added, “Firmus energy is very active in the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area and we have more than 2,000 customers in the vicinity. We are working hard to connect even more customers in the area to natural gas, which is convenient and energy efficient, and if anyone is keen to find out more about how to connect, come over and see us in the Firmus Energy gazebo at the Festival of Water event. We will be happy to answer any questions you might have.”
