Family Fun Day Planned for Castlewellan Forest Park
A fun filled family day in Castlewellan Forest Park will take place in the beautiful surroundings of Castlewellan Forest Park. The event, which will be on Saturday 12 May 2018, was launched by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Roisin Mulgrew.
Speaking at the launch of the family fun day, Councillor Mulgrew said, “I am very pleased to be part of organising an enjoyable family orientated day in magnificent Castlewellan Forest Park. There will be a lot of activities to enjoy; walks in the forest, face painting and archery as well as performances from local musicians. I’m encouraging families to bring along a picnic lunch and there will also be a range of food and beverages for sale.
“I believe this event will appeal to both local visitors and tourists alike and would hope that everyone will put the date in their diaries. Not only will this be a great day for all who take part, but the monies raised from the admission charges will go to my chosen charity, MYMY. This Newcastle based charity helps people raise their self-esteem and self-awareness and gives people a safe and friendly place to resolve issues that are affecting their everyday life.
“I’ve really relished planning this event and am looking forward to taking part, so come along and enjoy the food, walks and fun for the whole family.”
The gates will open to the public in the Forest Park at 11am with the activities starting at 12 noon. Admission charges are £10 for families or £5 for individuals, with registration for the walks taking place on the morning of the event and performers will be on the big stage from 1pm through to 5pm.
