Kilbroney Park, Rostrevor will come to life with Chronicles of Narnia characters from 12noon until 4pm. Sample some of the best produce that our area has to offer at the food stalls and browse the arts and crafts on offer. You can experience the cookery demonstration at the Cloughmore Centre and enjoy the face painting, wood carving, willow weaving, jumping clay and other entertainment on offer.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Cllr Mickey Ruane said, “Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is excited about the Narnia Family Fair in Kilbroney Park on Easter Monday. It’s great to see a link with C.S Lewis and the Year of Food and Drink. It’s reported that Lewis in a letter to his brother said that part of Rostrevor which overlooks Carlingford Lough is my idea of Narnia.”
Cllr Ruane continued, “Food and drink experiences have become increasingly important to tourism, they provide an opportunity to showcase our indigenous offerings. Visitors can learn about our heritage, landscape and culture and meet our people through our food and drink experiences.”
Mourne Mountains Landscape Partnership, Scheme Manager, Camilla Fitzpatrick stated, “The Mourne Mountains Landscape Partnership is delighted to support this event as it raises awareness of the links that C.S Lewis had with the Rostrevor area.”
