European Food, Fun and Football at Down County Museum
On Friday 24 June, Down County Museum will be hosting a very special evening of entertainment as part of the Tourism NI Year of Food and Drink 2016 to coincide with the UEFA Euros 2016 taking place in France. The European Food, Fun and Football Night and brings together a great combination of music, dance, entertainment, food and football with a range of fun activities and entertainment for all the family.
The evening will host a variety of food producers offering visitors the chance to sample their produce from a range of local and European traditions. The Cathedral View Tearoom will provide guests with a selection of treats, sweets and cakes from around the continent.
Music and dance will feature strongly as part of the evening’s entertainment with live performances from local musicians as well as singers from Bulgaria, Russia and Ukraine. Alongside this fantastic lineup of musicians, Irish dancers, Scottish Highland Dancers and Polish dancers will all be putting on fantastic displays.
In celebration of the UEFA European Championships, which are taking place in France, an assortment of football related activities will take place to get you into the football spirit. Guests can test their skills by taking part in a penalty shootout, enjoy football themed crafts and competitions or visit the football themed trails.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick said, “This event is a great opportunity for visitors of all ages to take part in a fun filled evening celebrating all aspects of local and European wide culture, from music and dance to food and sport. This is certain to be a fun night for all the family and the chance to find out more about European culture is guaranteed. It is also an opportunity for people to come along to the Museum and spend a summer’s evening enjoying its indoor and outdoor spaces.”
The European Food, Fun and Football Night will take place from 6pm until 10pm at the Down County Museum and admission is free. The Museum galleries will be open and themed trails and activities will be available for children and adults to enjoy.
