Downpatrick Job Fair to Offer Over 750 Jobs

Residents across the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area are invited to attend Downpatrick Job Fair on Thursday 9 March 2023 hosted by Newry, Mourne and Down Labour Market Partnership from 10am to 2pm in Down Leisure Centre, Downpatrick.

Labour Market Partnerships are funded by the Department for Communities and create targeted employment action plans for council areas, allowing for collaboration at local and regional level to support people towards and into work.

With over 20 employers registered to attend, offering over 750 combined current and future vacancies within the next three months, now is the time to secure your new job. Sectors represented will include manufacturing, construction, finance, retail, health and social care and hospitality offering full-time, part-time, flexible and casual roles based throughout the District.  

Attendees can avail of one-on-one support and advice on finding a job, writing a CV and preparing for interview from local support agencies including the Careers Service and local Job and Benefits Offices. Further Education Colleges and the Newry, Mourne and Down Labour Market Partnership will provide information regarding training available to help people secure jobs as well as to support businesses with their recruitment, employment, and training needs. 

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Michael Savage said, “Downpatrick Job Fair offers our residents a fantastic opportunity to start, progress or change careers by bringing together businesses with current vacancies available right now. Attendees can also find out about the variety of supports available to develop into a particular role. Newry, Mourne and Down District Council are delighted to host this Job Fair through the Labour Market Partnership which offers a tailored response to local business needs and labour market issues.”
