‘Down Your Street’ Financial Assistance Call
Chairperson Launches ‘Down Your Street’ Financial Assistance Call
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick was joined by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Assistant Director of Health and Wellbeing, Eoin Devlin to launch the latest financial assistance call to support projects that complement the Council’s ‘Down Your Street’ scheme.
The ‘Down Your Street’ scheme is part of the wider ‘Live Here Love Here’ campaign that helps support and promote environmental and community improvement across Northern Ireland. Grants will be available from £500 to £3,000 for volunteer and community groups and schools in the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area who wish to undertake environmental improvement projects that enhance civic pride.
To be eligible for consideration for financial support, projects must show that they will improve the quality of the local environment, reduce litter and dog fouling in the local environment and instil civic pride within the community.
Speaking at the launch Councillor Fitzpatrick said, “Every environmental improvement action that takes place in our local communities, however small, is important and adds to the overall wellbeing of our district. This latest financial assistance call will provide much needed funding at a time when budgets are tight. I would highly recommend local groups to apply and I look forward to hearing about the successful projects."
Groups who wish to apply for funding should note that the period under consideration is 12 September 2016 to 31 March 2017 and all projects must take place within this period. All proposed projects must be based in the Newry, Mourne and Down Council area.
