Delight At Success of International Women’s Day Event
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Roisin Mulgrew has expressed her delight at the resounding success of the charity fund raising event she held in the Canal Court Hotel, Newry on Thursday 8 March 2018 to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Cllr Mulgrew said, “The event was attended by 370 people and, on arrival, guests were treated to a pre-lunch reception with songs from the choir of St. Mary’s High School, Newry. Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women across the globe. I was delighted to be joined for lunch by so many great women from all sections of the community and business sectors of our district to mark International Women’s Day by relaxing and enjoying good food and company. Celine Grant, Director of Product Sales at Regen Ltd and winner of the Best Exporter category of the 2017 Women in Business Awards gave a motivational speech which was extremely well received by all present. Guests also enjoyed some laughs together provided by comic actress and writer Nuala McKeever who was my after dinner speaker”
Cllr Mulgrew continued, “I particularly would like to thank both main sponsors First Derivatives and Regen Ltd, for their generous financial sponsorship of the event, and the many local businesses who also sponsored raffle prizes. A huge thank you also to all who attended and gave so generously to the raffle held during the lunch, which alone, raised over £3,000 for my very worthy charities Davina’s Ark, The Mental Health Forum and Women’s Aid Armagh Down who work tirelessly for people throughout the district.”
