Craobh Rua Celebrates Success of U16 Team
The success of Craobh Rua, Camlocha which won the Armagh U16 County League and Championship, was celebrated recently with a reception in the Boardroom of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council headquarters on 2 May 2018. The event was hosted by Council Chairperson, Councillor Roisin Mulgrew who presented the team with an inscribed crystal bowl to mark their achievement.
The Club, which was founded in 1991, won the U16 League and Championship after thrilling final matches with Cu Chullains of Armagh.
Speaking at the reception Councillor Mulgrew said, “I am delighted to celebrate your outstanding achievement of winning the Armagh U16 Championship and League. The Council and our community are very proud of each and every one of you.
“Your achievement demonstrates what it takes to success. You are all talented, but talent alone does not win major competitions—it is a result of the many weeks and months of hard work and training. Your commitment and dedication to your sport is what has combined to make this a hugely successful team.
“I would like to congratulate all involved with your team who have worked hard alongside you in all types of weather, to ensure you had all the support needed to bring out the best in each member of the team.
“Craobh Rua, this reception is all about you: a celebration of your win; recognition of your sporting talents; and a thank you to your manager, coaches, your families, and all those who have helped you to achieve this triumph.
“I wish you all continued sporting successes.”
