Council to Review Car Parking Strategy
What do you think of Newry, Mourne and Down’s off street car parking? What are the most important issues? Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is looking for your views as it launches a district wide survey.
The survey, which will be available online from Tuesday 6 November and as a paper copy available from a number of Council facilities from Friday 16 November, will inform a Council review of all aspects of its Off Street Car Parking Strategy. Questions contained in the survey include car park accessibility, occupancy, usage, and of course views on the current tariffs in operation.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairman, Councillor Mark Murnin said, “The Council is very keen to hear views from all those who use car parks or are affected by the provision of parking facilities in our district.
“This review is important and we are determined to ensure that it is done thoroughly so that the resulting strategy can realistically meet the needs of all users.
“We will also be holding a number of road shows aimed local businesses, representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, Newry BID as well as Councillors to gain as wide a range of views as we can.
“I would urge all those who use car parking facilities, or whose businesses are impacted by that provision, to make their views known and contribute to a new Council Car Parking Strategy.”
Members of the public should use the online facility by clicking on the survey link at www.newrymournedown.org/car-parking or can access the paper copy from the Council facilities. All submissions will need to be submitted by Friday, 30 November.
