Council Launches New Mentor Support Programme to Promote Business Growth in the Local Area.

The Council has launched an exciting new programme that will support local small to medium-sized businesses, encouraging business growth.

The programme is fully funded by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council and is aimed at businesses across the Council area that employ fewer than 50 full-time equivalent staff. The Programme will include the delivery of a total of 80 mentoring days supporting 40 businesses to enhance their skills, confidence, and abilities with the overall aim of enabling business growth.

As well mentoring support, the Programme will also feature several skills development workshops on highly relevant topics such as Marketing and Digital Marketing and Selling with Confidence.

The programme will commence in mid-July and run until the end of September. During this time, participating businesses can expect to receive bespoke one-to-one support with an experienced business advisor. Whether you need help with Sales and Marketing, Digital Transformation or Strategic Growth Planning, the Programme aims to support businesses in all these areas and many more.

Newry Mourne and Down Council Chairperson, Councillor Valerie Harte said, “We are delighted to see this support in place for local businesses to avail of. The programme is designed to encourage businesses to pursue growth opportunities and will be an important results-focused initiative across the council area. We anticipate demand for this programme to be significant, and we would encourage even the smallest businesses to consider taking part. The programme will help many business owner-managers to evolve through bespoke mentoring and skills development workshops.”

The programme is open to businesses in the Newry, Mourne and Down Council area that:

• Have been trading for more than 6 months.
• Employ less than 50 full time equivalent staff.
• Have job creation potential.
