Council Launches New Be Active App

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council has launched its new Be Active app, to make it even easier for residents to take part in sport and leisure activities.

The app is now available for download via the Apple App Store or Google Play. Search ‘NMD Be Active’ to access the app and receive up-to-date information about Council’s leisure facilities.

On Friday October 26, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairman, Councillor Mark Murnin, launched the app at the soon to be opened new Down Leisure Centre. Councillor Murnin said: “I am very pleased to be launching this new Be Active app. Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is doing everything it can to promote health and wellbeing among its citizens, including increasing the facilities and activities that we promote.

“This app will improve the way our residents find out about our leisure facilities and services and we believe it will also increase our engagement with our customers. I urge everyone to download this app, find out what’s available in your area, ‘Be Active’ and begin your journey to improve your health and wellbeing.”

The NMD Be Active app will allow users to have up-to-date information for all of the district’s leisure centres and outdoor leisure facilities in their pocket and keep abreast of all news, offers, class timetables and booking information.

Not only will app users be able to book classes online, but they will be notified of important centre news and leisure and sport events taking place around the district. Users can also view the various memberships to find out the perfect package and join online through the app.

The NMD Be Active app allows users to select the following centres for more information:

• Ballymote Sports and Wellbeing Centre
• Down Leisure Centre
• Kilkeel Leisure Centre
• Newry Leisure Centre
• St Colman’s Sports Complex
