Council Chair Congratulates Environmental Poster Competition Winners
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Naomi Bailie held a reception at the Downpatrick Council Offices, for local primary and secondary school pupils whose posters have been picked to feature in the 2016 Schools’ Environmental Calendar.
13 posters were chosen from the thousands of entries received from sixty three schools who took part from across the district. The posters will feature on the 2016 calendar which will be printed in December and distributed to local schools free of charge.
Chairperson Bailie, presenting the thirteen lucky winners with their prizes, told the pupils “I would like to congratulate you all on your great achievement of being chosen from the thousands of entries received in our poster competition. The first as a new Council. The standard has been very high once again this year and I look forward to seeing the completed calendar when it is produced in December.”
Cllr Bailie added, “The calendar is jointly funded by the Council’s Active and Healthy Communities Department, the Regulatory and Technical Services Department and the Corporate Planning and Policy Department as part of the Council’s environmental education awareness programme.”
All 13 pupils received a specially framed copy each of their winning poster from Councillor Bailie as part of their prize.
