Council Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Ardglass Gaelic Club
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Michael Savage was delighted to host a Civic Reception on Saturday 3 September in the Ardglass Golf Club to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Ardglass Gaelic Club. The club was formed in 1971 by Jack Fitzsimons and has since welcomed many great players, managers and ambassadors along the way.
The evening was designed to acknowledge the achievements of the club and recognise all of the individuals that work tirelessly dedicating their time, commitment and energy in a voluntary and coaching capacity to the club.
Chairperson Councillor Michael Savage said, “Sports makes a massive positive impact on people’s lives and the community – not only does it develop individuals and their physical capabilities, but it also helps to build stronger communities by bringing people together, building friendships and camaraderie. I want to thank everyone who has been involved with the club throughout the last 50 years for working tirelessly at a grass roots level to keep it at the heart of the community and for always going the extra mile. You should be immensely proud of what you have achieved together.”
