Ciaran Magill Exhibition on Display at Sean Hollywood Arts Centre
An exhibition of new works, ‘Something a Little Odd’ by talented local artist Ciaran Magill, will be on display in the Carroll Gallery at Sean Hollywood Arts Centre in Newry.
‘Something a Little Odd’ has been described as the most experimental solo exhibition of Ciaran Magill’s career. His latest exhibition presents Magill's fascination with a feeling of oddness when he wanders through the countryside alone. This haunting state of mind is the catalyst for his unique style of painting, combining spooky sensations with a hypnotic charm.
Ciaran studied at the University of Ulster, graduating with a BA (Hons) degree in Fine and Applied Arts in 2009. The hypnotic charm of his art has appealed to many private and corporate collectors, most notably the Open University and DIAGEO. As well as being awarded ‘Diageo Emerging Artist of the Year’ in 2009 Magill also won awards in 2011 and 2013, from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick said, “We are delighted that Ciaran has come back to exhibit his collection in his hometown of Newry. Ciaran once again captivates us with these new works on show until the end of July”.
Ciaran’s work has been displayed in a number of international galleries such as Museum of New Art (Michigan USA), University of Florida, Mercer University (Georgia, USA), Long Island University (New York) and Raccolte Frugone Museum, Genoa (Italy). In Northern Ireland, he has shown at the Ormeau Baths Gallery, Golden Thread, ArtTank, Catalyst Arts and the Naughton Gallery. This is his third solo show at The Sean Hollywood Arts Centre, Newry.
The exhibition is open to the public Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. For evening bookings, sales and further information contact reception on 028 3031 3180 or email arts.reception@nmandd.org.
