Mark the calendar for Friday 8 December for the return of the Christmas Twilight Market at Newry Variety Market.
The event, organised by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, is designed as a night out for all the family. A host of gifts, food, Christmas music and arts and crafts are in store for visitors. A full bar is also available and the event is strictly for over 18s after 9pm.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Roisin Mulgrew said, “We’ve been thrilled with the success of these seasonal Twilight Markets which attract thousands of people to the historic marketplace in the heart of the city of Newry. Traders enjoy the support of the local community in a wonderful atmosphere with live music and activities.
The events have a great family appeal too and at this year’s Christmas Market, children can enjoy free arts and crafts until 8pm. Santa Claus will also make a special visit and children will be able to meet him in his grotto from 5pm to 8pm. They can even post their letter to Santa in a very special post box that will send them straight to the North Pole.”
The live music stage runs from 5pm until 10pm with lots of local acts performing, including Cold Porter, Decky, The Shining Light Gospel Choir, Connor Martin and Conor Mulvenna amongst others.
The event is free to enter with children’s activities from 5pm until 8pm however, for those that wish to meet Santa, booking is essential by contacting 028 3031 3170.
