Chairperson Welcomes Cedar Integrated Primary School to Council Chamber
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Roisin Mulgrew recently hosted a visit from seventeen school children from Cedar Integrated Primary School at the Council Offices, Downpatrick.
The students from P7, expressed their interest to visit the Council Chamber as they wanted to learn more about how the Council functions and the responsibilities of local Councillors. During the visit they took the opportunity to take part in a fun debate in the Council Chamber, sharing their ideas of how they felt the district could be improved.
Councillor Roisin Mulgrew said, “I was delighted to welcome the students from Cedar Integrated Primary School. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to gain knowledge and understand the civic role the Council plays.”
Councillor Mulgrew continued, “I would like to thank Ms Bennett and Councillor Harry Harvey for taking time out of their busy schedules to facilitate the visit. I would also like to thank the children for coming along and taking such an interest in their local Council.”
