Chairperson Reveals Winners in the Council’s Schools’ Environmental Calendar Poster Competition
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council held a reception at O’Hagan House, Monaghan Row, Newry for local Primary and Secondary school pupils whose posters have been picked to feature in the 2017 edition of the Council’s Schools’ Environmental Calendar.
The competition invited Primary and Secondary School students throughout the district to design a poster with an environmental theme of their own choosing.
From 53 schools across the district and 1,000 entries, 13 posters were chosen. The posters will feature in the 2017 calendar which will be produced in December and distributed to all schools free of charge.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick presented the 13 lucky winners with their prizes and extended praise to the pupils, “I would like to congratulate you all on your great achievement of being chosen from all the entries received in this the fourteenth year of our poster competition.”
“The standard has been very high once again this year and I look forward to seeing the completed calendar when it is produced in December” she added.
All 13 pupils received a specially framed copy each of their winning poster from Councillor Fitzpatrick as part of their prize, while 300 shortlisted entries will receive certificates of achievement. The winning pupils were:
